Free Stock Screener: How to Find Trading Opportunities
Using filters, signals, and data to find stocks worth watching
A stock screener filters the universe of thousands of stocks down to the ones that match your criteria. Instead of manually checking hundreds of charts, you define what you're looking for and the screener surfaces the opportunities.
Types of Screening Criteria
- Fundamental filters — PE ratio, market cap, EPS growth, dividend yield. Find value or growth stocks.
- Technical filters — RSI, moving average crossovers, volume surge, 52-week highs/lows.
- Options filters — High implied volatility, unusual call/put activity, extreme put/call ratios.
- Signal filters — Convergence score, number of active signals, specific signal types (insider, dark pool).

No subscription required. No feature gating. Every tool is free.
Building a Screening Workflow
Effective screening follows a top-down approach: 1. Start broad — Filter by sector or market cap to focus on stocks you understand. 2. Apply technical filters — Look for momentum (RSI trend), volume (above average), or proximity to key levels (50-day SMA). 3. Check signals — Does the convergence scanner flag this stock? Any unusual options flow? 4. Read the data — Open the stock page for full analysis: AI insights, options chain, earnings history, risk metrics. 5. Decide — Is there a clear trade thesis? What's your entry, stop, and target?
